You are allowed up to two years to complete Ashworth College Diploma courses taken via correspondence; for Ashworth College Online Diploma courses, you are allowed up to twelve months. You may request an extension if needed, however, if taking an online course, you will be charged a small fee.

What is a Paralegal Specialty Course?
Paralegal Specialty Courses are available to students of The Professional Paralegal Studies Program. After completing the Foundation Course, which covers the comprehensive body of knowledge and skills of professional paralegal practice, you may choose one or more Specialty Courses. These give you more advanced and in-depth training in the most popular areas of legal specialization. Choose from Civil Litigation; Real Estate Law; Corporations; Estates, Wills and Trusts; and Criminal Law and Procedure. Your first Specialty Course is included at no additional cost. Then, you may enroll in as many additional Specialty Courses as you like at a reduced tuition.

As a student in the Paralegal Studies diploma program, will I receive my paralegal Foundation Course diploma before I complete my Specialty Course?
Yes. Once you have completed the Foundation Course, and your tuition balance is paid in full, a diploma and transcript will be issued within 30 days.

What is a Compulsory Attendance Form?
The Compulsory Attendance form is signed by a parent or guardian of a minor (under the age of 18 years). It verifies that the parent or guardian has complied with the laws of your school district and your state regarding compulsory attendance age as well as the number of days per year and hours per day the minor will devote to their education. If you are under 18 years of age, Ashworth College's High School Program must receive this form before your transcript can be evaluated.

This form is used by you to select the General or Academic Diploma Program within Ashworth College's High School Program. The General Diploma Program is designed to help you achieve the basic requirements to earn your high school diploma The Academic Diploma Program (22 Credits), on the other hand, includes more challenging courses to help prepare you to continue your education at a postsecondary institution. It is more demanding and involves written assignments, research project, and more problem-solving tasks. Ashworth College's High School Program must receive this form before your transcript can be evaluated.

What is a Subject Review Form?
After we evaluate your transcript, we’ll send you a Subject Review Form. It outlines which diploma program you are in, transfer credits that we’ve accepted from any previous school, and how many electives you must choose, if any, in order to graduate from Ashworth College's High School Program. The form is to be returned with your electives selections.

What is a Revised Enrollment Form?
If your records indicate that you must take more courses, over and above those in which you originally enrolled, you will receive a Revised Enrollment Agreement. This is required because your tuition will increase to cover the additional courses necessary to graduate. The amount of your monthly payments will remain the same; the number of payments will increase.

What is meant by “raise in years”?
If you originally enrolled for 1-3 years and your transcript indicates that you will need the course equivalent of any additional years to graduate, this is commonly referred to as a “raise in years” and accompanies your Revised Enrollment Form.

What is the minimum/maximum completion time to earn a Ashworth College's High School Program diploma?
The minimum completion time is six months. A diploma will not be issued until a student has been enrolled for six months. The maximum completion time is the same as the number of years for which a student is enrolled. For example, if you are enrolled in the two year program, you will have two years to complete the program. If you require more time, you will need to request in writing a six month extension.

How do retake exams work?
If you receive of a grade below 65, you will be required to retake the exam. For scanned exams, we will automatically send you the list of questions that you missed along with a page number reference to find the answer. You will be required to redo all of some handgraded exams. The maximum score possible on a retake exam is 65.

How soon after I graduate will I get my diploma and ring?
Your diploma and transcript will be mailed to you within 7-10 days of graduating and the ring will be ordered. You should receive the ring within 8-10 weeks.

Are special education courses given transfer credit?
All students, regardless of age, race, creed, and gender, will be treated equally with regard to the Ashworth College's High School Program policy and procedure for students with special education needs. Due to the independent nature of our program, Ashworth College's High School Program cannot enroll students who have previously taken special education classes. As a private, distance education high school that does not receive any government funding, Ashworth College's High School Program cannot adequately accommodate students with special education needs. Students who were assigned to special education for ACADEMIC reasons for any amount of time will not be allowed to continue in the program. However, if you were in special education for NON–ACADEMIC reasons, you may qualify for enrollment. Special Education courses will not receive transfer credit toward graduation with Ashworth College's High School Program.

May I switch electives once I have chosen them?
Yes. The fee to change an elective selection is $50.00. If the course has already been shipped, you will need to pay the replacement costs for the course in addition to the $50.00 fee.

May I change diploma programs after my transcript has been evaluated?
Yes. The fee to switch diploma programs is $50.00. Additional fees apply if you drop courses when making the switch to another diploma program or need additional credits to graduate in the new diploma program.

What should I do if I am having trouble getting my transcript from my previous school(s)?
Most students, despite their age or previous schools' location, are able to provide us with some sort of educational record. The records DO NOT have to be from a high school; they can be middle school or junior high records, such as report cards, test scores, and withdrawal slips, GED scores, or any type of proof of a previous educational experience. Please contact the Board of Education or school district where you attended school for assistance in locating your records. If you do not have the contact information, you can go online. A good website to use is:

. If you cannot locate the information online, you can call the telephone directory service and get the phone number. If your previous school or Board of Education states that they cannot find a transcript, for any reason, please have them submit, on school letterhead, a statement informing Ashworth College's High School Program. You cannot continue until a transcript or a letter is received.

Send in a Ashworth College's High School Program transcript request form. The first request for a Ashworth College's High School Program transcript is processed without a charge. All requests after the first request require that a $5.00 processing fee be paid. The Ashworth College's High School Program transcript request form is located in the back of the Student Handbook. When will my transcript be evaluated?
Your transcript will be evaluated within five business days once the following criteria are met: 1) Diploma Selection Form has been received, 2) an official transcript has been provided from your previous school, 3) 75% of your first course has been completed, 4) you are current with tuition payments, 5) if you are 17 or younger, the Compulsory Attendance Form needs to have been received.

Can I receive more than one course at a time?
Yes. You will need to return a partial shipments waiver letter and pay a substantial portion of your tuition obligation prior to receiving multiple shipments of courses. Additionally, the school will send you all of the courses on your program of study if you return the cancellation waiver letter and pay your full tuition amount.

How soon after enrolling can I start my first course?
It should only take a matter of 24 to 48 hours for a new student to be assigned a student ID number, allowing access to our exclusive online learning system. Simply create a Password and log on to the first course, which is Psychology for all new students in the College Prep Diploma Program, and Introduction to Online learning for General Diploma Program students. (Transfer credits for Psychology and Introduction to Online Learning cannot be accepted.) Single course students will be enrolled into the course that was chosen at the time of enrollment. Students will receive a personal email from the teacher, welcoming them into the course.

What if I need additional credits to graduate, over and above a full year’s enrollment?
We will evaluate your existing credits when we receive the official transcript(s) from any previous high schools you have attended. We must receive your transcript in order to set up your personal program of study. If you are having difficulty obtaining your transcript(s), please contact

immediately for assistance. Some students may need one or more course credits beyond a full year to be eligible to earn a Ashworth College's High School Program Online diploma. I’ve finished some high school already. Will I be granted credit for those courses?
We may be able to grant credit for previous academic high school courses that you have successfully completed. However, the only way we can evaluate your previous credits is to review a copy of your official transcript. You may download and print a Transcript Request Form from our
downloads
page. It is your responsibility to send it to the appropriate school or Board of Education office.
Please note: you must complete a minimum of six (6) courses in the College Prep Diploma Program and four (4) courses in the General Diploma Program (available February 2006) in order to be eligible to receive your Ashworth College's High School Program Online diploma.

What if I have trouble locating my high school transcript?
If the school you attended has been converted to another school, contact the new school to ask where the records were transferred. If the school no longer exists, contact your local Board of Education office, making sure you provide them with your name as it was when you attended school. If you attended high school in a country other than the U.S. you may still send us your transcript. How are assignments, exams, and grading handled?
You will upload a variety of course assignments directly to your instructor online. They are graded by your instructor within one week and graded with helpful feedback and comments. You may also have computer graded assignments which are graded automatically. Exams and quizzes are taken online and grades are posted immediately. All grades and assignments are maintained in your confidential student folder.

How often, and where, do I send my monthly payments?
Unless you have paid all of your tuition in advance, you will receive an invoice every thirty days. Your invoice will be for the minimum payment required. However, you may make larger payments at any time. Remember: your tuition is INTEREST-FREE. Please be prompt in mailing your payments, regardless of your course progress.

Ashworth College's High School Program Online is a regionally and nationally accredited institution, and your diploma is valid certification of your achievement of knowledge at the high school level. In addition, our College Preparatory curriculum has been specifically designed to prepare graduates for postsecondary education and training, with courses that convey a more advanced level of knowledge than many traditional public schools. This should be favorably viewed by colleges and universities throughout the U.S. We can assist you in preparation for future endeavors. However, if you intend to apply for admission to college or another institution after graduating from Ashworth College's High School Program Online, it is your responsibility to contact that institution in advance to determine if it will accept Ashworth College's High School Program Online credits.

How many credits will I have at graduation?
The Ashworth College Associate Degree program is a 60 credit hour program. There are five courses, offering three credits each, in each of the four semesters.

How many courses credits may I transfer to the Ashworth College Associate Degree Program?
You may be awarded up to 75% credit either as transfer credit or a combination of transfer and life/work experience credit. Life/work experience credit is limited to a maximum of five (5) courses. The credits you wish to transfer must meet specific guidelines:
The credits must come from an accredited college or university.
The credits must not be more than ten (10) years old.
You must have received a grade of C or better in the equivalent course.
Before you are awarded transfer credit, the Registrar at Ashworth College must receive the completed Academic Processing Form and all official transcripts from other colleges within 90 days of your enrollment with Ashworth College.

What is a life/work experience exam?
This is a multiple choice exam featuring 50 questions relating to the specific content of a particular course in your program. The exam is proctored and must be completed within three hours. You must earn a grade of 70 or higher on the first attempt to receive credit for that course. The exam is open-book and you may bring any reference materials of your own when you take the exam.

What is a proctor? Who can I nominate? When should I nominate them?
A proctor is a qualified person who will monitor an exam. Acceptable proctor candidates must be responsible individuals with whom no conflict of interest exists. For instance, a fellow student, a relative of any kind (by blood or marriage), a roommate or immediate supervisors are not suitable proctor candidates under any circumstances. Acceptable candidates include a high school or college administrator, faculty member, guidance counselor, librarian or member of the clergy. Proctors should be nominated no later than the start of the fifth course in each semester.

What is a semester exam?
Semester exams are given to Ashworth College associate degree students for each five courses completed. The exams consist of 50 multiple choice questions, with 10 multiple choice questions for each course. You will have three hours to complete the entire exam. You may use your textbooks, notes, calculators and other resources while taking the exam.

How do I schedule my semester exam?
Semester exams are generated automatically upon completion of the fifth course in that semester provided a proctor nominee is on file.

What is a retake exam and what is the maximum passing grade I can receive?
If any exam is not passed with a grade of 60 or higher, you will be required to retake that exam. The school will automatically send you the list of questions that you missed along with a page number reference to find the answer. Once you submit your answers and they are graded, the maximum score possible on a retake exam is 60.

What are the graduation requirements of the Ashworth College Associate Degree Program?
To earn an associate’s degree from Ashworth College, you must:
Complete 60 credit hours applicable to your degree program
Complete at least five courses with Ashworth College
Earn a grade point average of 2.0 or higher
Pass all subjects covered on the semester exams, which are taken at the end of each semester, in no more than two attempts; and you must receive a score of at least 70 percent on each section of the exam
Complete all requirements within four years of your enrollment
Meet all of your financial obligations with Ashworth College by paying your balance in full

How soon after graduating will I receive my diploma and class ring?

How do the prerequisites for the Associate Degree Program differ from the Master’s Degree Program?
You may start the Associate Degree program with only a high school diploma or GED. To be eligible for the Master’s Degree Program, you must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Do you offer financial aid?
Some students may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement of their tuition by their employers. Your company may be able to take advantage of The Employee Education Assistance Act (IRS Code, Section 127). Check with your supervisor or personnel department to determine your eligibility.
Ashworth College is qualified under the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support, or DANTES program. Military personnel, including those on active duty or reserve, may be eligible for partial reimbursement of tuition upon graduation. For reimbursement information contact your DANTES Education Officer before you enroll.
If you already have a student loan, enrolling in Ashworth College does not qualify you to defer your payments in any way.

Do I have to take an entrance exam?
No. However, you must pass the first course in the program in order to continue as a student. This course serves to evaluate your reading comprehension level, and fairly predicts your ability to successfully complete subsequent courses.

What if my transfer credits are from overseas?
Foreign transcripts are referred to World Education Service (WES) for evaluation. If it is determined that completed course work is comparable to our curriculum, foreign transcripts are an acceptable means of proving high school graduation or for seeking transfer credit.

Acceptance of transfer credits is at the discretion of the individual school. We strongly urge you to verify transferability of credits prior to enrollment. Ashworth College does maintains national accreditation through the Distance Education Training Council (DETC).

What is the first course in the Graduate Degree Program?
The first course is entitled Graduate Level Skill Building. This non-credit course provides foundation-building exercises designed to instill confidence in students and refresh skills necessary for success in the master’s program. Students begin by reviewing the dynamics of graduate education and the value of a master’s degree and then delve into the real world as defined by their program. Business communications, including writing effective reports, letters, memos, and emails and even preparing a PowerPoint presentation comprises the next section. Students are then introduced to graduate level research by reviewing the distinguishing characteristics of academic journals and other publications. Students will learn how to evaluate Internet resources to determine their accuracy, appropriateness, and objectivity. The last section, which is optional, introduces students to MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint.

What are the conditions for earning transfer credit?
You are allowed transfer credit for up to three (3) courses. The credits you wish to transfer must meet specific guidelines:
The credits must come from an accredited college or university.
The credits must not be more than ten (10) years old.
You must have received a grade of B or better in the equivalent course.
The course content must be equivalent to an Ashworth College graduate credit course in your specific graduate program.
Before you are awarded transfer credit, the Registrar at Ashworth College must receive the completed Transfer Credit Form and all official transcripts from other colleges within 90 days of your enrollment with Ashworth College. In addition, the Registrar must receive a catalog description of each course and the former college/university graduate program requirements.

Can I enroll in more than one graduate program at a time?
No, dual enrollment is not allowed.

How long do I have to complete my master’s degree program?
You will be allowed five (5) years to complete the program. In extenuating circumstances, a graduate student may apply for a six-month extension beyond the initial five (5) years.

How long does it take to grade my exams?
Exams submitted via the internet should be graded within 24 hours. Exams submitted via scan sheets will be graded within 24 hours of being received by the school. Essays or other exams requiring hand grading will be graded within 4-6 weeks of receipt.

How long do I have to dispute my grades?
If you disagree with your exam results, you have 30 days to notify the school if you are a Ashworth College High School Program or Ashworth College Associate Degree student. If you are enrolled in the Master’s Degree program, you have 45 days to appeal your grade.

How will I receive all my materials?
Course materials are sent automatically upon enrollment. If you are enrolled in a multi-course program, 75% of the first course must be completed before the next course will be shipped. If you are up-to-date on your tuition payments and your exam submissions, you will receive your printed textbooks, workbooks, study guides and other materials by mail in a timely manner. You may have immediate access to online study materials and lessons.

What if I receive the wrong books?
Please contact the school at 1-800-224-7234 as soon as possible after receipt of the wrong materials. You have 60 days to notify the school. After 60 days, you will be responsible for any replacement materials.

Why does it seem to take so long to process my transcript?
Official transcripts are processed within thirty days of receipt provided the student has met all the criteria necessary for transcript review. Transcript evaluation times are impacted by the similarity of courses completed to courses offered and the need for supporting documentation to make those comparisons.

Why didn’t my auto bill process?
Accounts set up on Auto Bill process the day before their bill is due. Typical reasons for an Auto Bill account to fail would include an expired card date or insufficient open to buy on the credit/debit card at the time of processing. Moreover, once an Auto Bill fails and the student’s account becomes delinquent, the Auto Bill will not process until the student makes a payment to bring the account current.

What is your cancellation policy?
The cancellation policy entitles the student to initiate the cancellation procedure. Only the student may initiate this procedure. If you cancel your enrollment, you may be entitled to a refund or you may owe the school additional tuition. This is based on the number of lessons you’ve completed and the tuition you’ve paid. Any amount you owe or are due will be determined by the Tuition Protection Agreement printed on the back of your Enrollment Agreement.

What is a retake exam and what is the minimum passing grade I can receive?
If any Ashworth College diploma course exam is not passed with a grade of 70 or higher, you must retake that exam. To assist you in preparing for the retake, we will send you a list of questions that you missed along with a page number reference to find the answer. The maximum score possible on a retake exam is 70.

Some students may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement of their tuition by their employers. Your company may be able to take advantage of The Employee Education Assistance Act (IRS Code, Section 127). Check with your supervisor or personnel department to determine your eligibility.
